The space

Coffee by Topo stands as a testament to community, inclusivity, and sustainability. Proudly woman and queer-owned, Topo is more than just a space where you can count on a damn good cup of coffee - it's a welcoming sanctuary for all.

We take pride in fostering a safe space where everyone, regardless of background or identity, feels embraced and respected. With conveniences like a gender-neutral restroom, all compostable ware, a variety of dietary options, and a commitment to centering diversity, Coffee by Topo is instrumental in cultivating a sense of belonging and unity within our rural community.

Whether you're dropping in for the best cup of coffee in town or swinging by for an afternoon cappuccino, Coffee by Topo is where meaningful connections thrive and positive change takes root.

The story

I started Coffee by Topo in the summer of 2021 after wishing the Salida Farmers Market had a coffee vendor. I began by developing recipes in my kitchen and testing them with friends delivered fresh from my townie bike. Naturally, Topo’s beverage delivery service developed shortly thereafter.

Since then, Topo has evolved many times: you can catch us at farmers markets in Salida and Crested Butte, hire us to cater any gathering, find our Nitro Cold Brew at one of our many wholesale partners, or swing by our cafe to enjoy the neighborhood vibe, funky art from local artists, and delicious beverages!

OUR CORE VALUES AT TOPO:

We’re all about talking the talk and walking the walk. We give a shit about our planet & our people!

We prioritize investing in our staff and developing careers in the coffee industry.

In 2025, we diverted 22,500 lbs of waste from the landfill, thanks to our compost program and partnership with Elements Mountain Compost.

SUSTAINABILITY

As a proudly woman and queer-owned space, we are committed to creating an environment where people of all gender identities and sexual orientations feel seen, celebrated, and protected. By fostering an unapologetic openly queer space in rural Colorado, we hope to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors knows they are valued and respected -because visibility is transformational.

queer VISIBILITY

Making folks feel welcomed, seen, & valued is at the center of our mission. Topo’s got a special sauce that brings folks together. We prioritize working with local vendors and artists to offer diverse and high quality products.

We also give back when and where we can to local organizations including: Ark Valley LGBTQ+ Fund, Ark Valley Pride, Chaffee Coalition for Palestine, Wild Mountain’s BIPOC Fund, The Alliance, and more.
